Hello everyone and welcome to the Early Spring edition of the Happy Tails Dog Spa™ newsletter! We are so happy to welcome in the spring season and the beautiful days to come. We are looking forward to bringing out the pools and letting the dogs have some fun outside playing with their friends.
With the warmer weather upon us we will be taking part in many upcoming community activities. For the latest details please visit the upcoming events section of our website. Hopefully some of you will be able to stop by and visit us at an event or two.
Thanks to all of the dust and detours, we now have a bright & spacious fourth playroom, a fresh look for the lobby, new flooring in the Gymnasium, and much more. The fourth playroom allows even more space for our four-legged guests to play! We have decided to call it the "Sun Room" since the room is lined with windows letting in lots of natural sunlight. We hope you will be able to stop by soon to see all of the changes we have made.
Our biggest news yet is that we have at long last completed the necessary registrations and filings to offer Happy Tails Dog Spa™ franchises. Check out our article below for more information.

Happy Tails Dog Spa™ is very pleased to announce that we have completed the necessary registrations and filings to begin offering franchises. We will be contacting those of you who have already shown interest and for those of you who haven't heard, we will be offering a limited number of Happy Tails Dog Spa™ franchise opportunities to the right individuals.
If you love dogs, and you are tired of the corporate grind, you owe it to yourself to investigate this incredible opportunity to own your own business working with and helping your four-legged friends. We are looking for motivated animal lovers who are open to learning about dog behavior and the "whole dog". Strong leadership skills, as well as customer service and business experience are a plus but not required. If you would like to be considered for one of our franchise opportunities please tell us a little more about yourself by submitting a franchisee application on our website. We look forward to speaking with all interested parties in the coming weeks.

Looking for a quick and delicious cookie recipe for your special dog? Try these Cheesy Bacon Biscuits! When shopping for ingredients, keep in mind that dogs are not able to process salt as well as humans. Look for low-sodium ingredients for healthier treats.
2 c. all purpose flour 1 c. shredded cheddar cheese 1/4 c. bacon bits 1/4 tsp. garlic powder 1/2 c. vegetable oil 4 - 5 tbsp. water
Combine everything except the water. Mix on medium speed until the dough has the constancy of cornmeal. Continue mixing while adding the water until the mixture forms a ball. Roll it into a 1/2" thickness and use cookie cutters to cut it into fun shapes.
Bake at 400° on an ungreased cookie sheet for about 10 minutes. Larger cookies may need slightly more baking time. Store cookies in the refrigerator until snack time.
Breath of Fresh Air
Many pet owners are familiar with the room-clearing ability of a dog's digestive tract. While some individuals and breeds can be predisposed to having gas, there are various things you can try that just might help clear the air.
Is your dog a speed-eater? Gobbling down food can cause your dog to swallow large amounts of air. This leads to belching and gas. Try slowing the race to the bottom of the bowl by placing an obstacle in with their food. A Kong, large enough to not be a choking hazard, is a great option and you can put some of their food inside. Larger breed dogs can further benefit from elevated food bowls. Good posture while eating will help your dog swallow less air.
Often it is the food itself that is causing the problem. Some ingredients, such as soy and carbohydrates, can be difficult for your pet to digest. Avoid foods with by-products or low-quality meats. If corn, soy, grain, or any kind of sugar is listed in the first few ingredients of your dog's current diet, try switching to a higher-quality food. Some dogs, like humans, have problems digesting food containing lactose. As with any dietary change - go slow. Change to the new food over a few weeks, gradually adding more of the new and less of the old. Changing foods abruptly can cause even more digestive distress.
Something as simple as regular exercise can greatly improve your dog's digestive health. Exercise stimulates the metabolism and helps expel gas. Just remember to take it easy immediatly before and after meals.
If your dog still suffers from chronic gas, especially if it is accompanied by other symptoms, have your vet look into other underlying causes. Hopefully you and your dog will soon be enjoying the sweet smell of success!
