We are proud to have active community service as a cornerstone of our company. We strive to be an asset in every city we join and truly believe that it is part of our duty as business owners to give back to the wonderful communities which support us. All Dogtopia® franchise owners are encouraged to seek out opportunities to give back. The following articles feature Dogtopia owners who have gone above and beyond in service to their community.
In just 4 years the Washington Humane Society's Fashion for Paws Spring Runway Show has become one of the top social events of the year. Considering it's hosted in a city chalk full of politicos, ambassadors, movers and shakers, that's really saying something! The show features sixty passionate, well-known personalities as models who rock the runway in the hottest fashions, alongside the cutest dogs - often dressed in their own couture. Past participants include environmentalist Philippe Cousteau, Jr, actor Val Kilmer, celebrity trainer Victoria Stilwell and former White House press secretary Dana Perino. This spring Dogtopia owners Amber Sutton of Woodbridge, VA and Jeff Lutton of Alexandria, VA were thrilled to join the illustrious list of models. Amber's participation is a natural extension of her passion for animal rescue and welfare. Her beloved Australian Shepherd Mix Zeke, was rescued from an overcrowded shelter in Georgia by the Washington Animal Rescue League and she has spent several years volunteering with them.
By reaching out to clients, friends, colleagues, social media contacts and every other resource they could tap, Jeff and Amber were able to raise $3,400 and $5,100 respectively. And they looked fantastic doing it! Since its inception Fashion for Paws has raised over 1 million dollars to benefit the Washington Humane Society, which provides services and care to over 30,000 animals a year through an array of programs.
